About Our Department

Sugar Land Parks & Recreation’s mission is to create and maintain unparalleled recreational opportunities and unique, high quality parks, streetscapes and public spaces, enhancing our community with exceptional customer service.

The Parks & Recreation Department owns and maintains over 2,400 acres of parkland and over 20 miles of trails. The Department has earned numerous awards and recognition throughout the years due to the high quality of service we offer to the community.

Maintenance and Development

The Maintenance and Development Division maintains the City’s 27 parks and 2 special use facilities to ensure optimal safety, functionality and cleanliness for residents.  


Sugar Land Parks & Recreation offers a variety of recreational programs for seniors, adults and youth of the community, including numerous leisure classes, fitness classes, day camps, athletic camps, and more. The Department owns and maintains the municipal pool at City Park, as well as 2 splashpads.

The Recreation Division also manages facility rentals and reservations for park and City facilities.

Special Events

Sugar Land Parks & Recreation hosts a large variety of special events throughout the year, including the City’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Memorial Day Ceremony, Halloween Town and more.
